Target Audience

This course is suitable for frontline staff and professionals across all disciplines and at all levels who wish to increase their skills and confidence in responding to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, including male and minority ethnic survivors.

A unique e-Learning programme has been developed for frontline staff in the public, private and third sectors. The programme will increase the skills and confidence of frontline staff in responding to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, including male and minority ethnic survivors.

The course will explore the definition of sexual abuse, the impact of abuse, barriers for survivors to disclose and staff and volunteers to respond.  This includes the issues specific to minority ethnic and male survivors. Participants will hear survivors’ experiences and this will be followed by what helps survivors and how to respond. The course will end by touching on the impact of working with CSA disclosure on yourself and how to look after yourself.

On completion of the course, participants will have:

  • An Increased awareness and understanding of Childhood Sexual Abuse;
  • Increased awareness and understanding of male and minority ethnic issues in relation to Childhood Sexual Abuse;
  • Increased awareness and understanding of the barriers faced by adult survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse and the impacts this can have on accessing services;
  • Enhanced confidence and ability to respond to disclosures from survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.

CSA Working with Adult Survivors is currently free to use thanks to the support of SurvivorScotland: A National Strategy for Survivors of Childhood Abuse.

The normal cost of this programme is £35.00 per user.
