The PVG, or Protecting Vulnerable Groups, Scheme is established by the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
The PVG Scheme provides an organisation with a means of satisfying itself anyone working with children or vulnerable adults on their behalf are not barred from doing
so. This is very important for when staff and volunteers are being recruited.
The PVG Scheme helps to make sure that those who have regular contact with children and vulnerable adults do not have a history of harmful behaviour.
Membership of the PVG Scheme is open to people doing regulated work with children or protected adults. Regulated work involves working in some way with children (under 18’s) and protected adults.
The Scheme applies to all staff, paid and unpaid.
The Scheme will check the staff or volunteers in question and certify that they are able to work with vulnerable groups. This involves filling in paperwork and applying to have the individual approved. roshni is an intermediary body with CRBS (the Central Registered Body in Scotland) which means that we can help third parties ensure their staff are checked and are safe to work with children and vulnerable adults. This means that your organisation does not need to deal with paperwork alone, we are there to support you and guide you through the process.
We highly recommend joining the PVG Scheme and working with roshni to ensure all staff are safe to work with vulnerable groups. This is the simplest and safest way to make sure that everyone working for your organisation can be trusted to do so.
